Readings

What the built-in three-phase meter shows, and how to use it to check the wiring.

The controller measures L1, L2, L3 and N itself — how it is wired is on Metering. This page is about reading it: first to confirm that it measures at all, then to confirm that it measures the right way round.

Open the meter

Tap the second icon in the bar at the bottom. The page is called Smart Meter.

At the top, next to the title, Live shows that values are streaming in. Below it a card names the meter and its state — Online, collecting (Online, erfasst) when it is working — and, on the right, the CT ratio (Wandlerverhältnis): Direct (Direkt) · 1:1 when the conductors go through the controller, Via CT (Über Wandler) with the ratio when it works from current transformers.

What the values mean

TileMeans
Instant Power (Momentanleistung)Power at the connection point right now, all phases together
Frequency (Frequenz)Grid frequency
Import Energy (Importenergie)Energy drawn from the grid, counted up
Export Energy (Exportenergie)Energy fed into the grid, counted up

Under Three-phase Data (Dreiphasen-Daten) each phase has its own row with Power (Leistung), Current (Strom) and Voltage (Spannung). The row at the bottom of that table opens the full list of measured values. Power Trend (Leistungsverlauf) below shows the history.

Power has a direction. Instant power and the per-phase power are net values: positive when the site draws from the grid, negative when it feeds in. A negative value with the sun on the roof is normal.

Is it measuring?

  • Voltage. On a three-phase connection L1, L2 and L3 each show around 230 V. On a single-phase connection only L1 has voltage; L2 and L3 at 0 V is normal there.
  • Live values. Switch on a large load — a kettle, an oven — and watch instant power and the current on that phase rise within seconds.

If the card says Offline, or the page keeps waiting for data, the controller is not getting readings from its own meter.

Is it the right way round?

The sign is what the optimisation acts on. A phase that is wired backwards turns consumption into "export", and the controller then plans against a house that does not exist.

Check by reading

Switch off the inverter and any other generation on site, so the site can only draw from the grid. Then, with ordinary load running:

  • Every phase that carries load shows positive power. A phase showing negative power while nothing on site can generate is reversed.
  • Current and power fit each other. A phase with normal voltage and current but much less power than voltage × current suggests is a sign that its current is being measured on a different phase than its voltage.

Check with the wiring test (current transformers)

When the controller works from current transformers, it can do the check for you. The settings behind it are for installers: the gear button on the meter card only appears for accounts with installer rights.

  1. On the meter card, tap the gear — Metering settings (Messeinstellungen).
  2. Set Measurement mode (Messmodus) to Via CT and choose the CT rating (Wandler-Nennwert), or enter Primary (A) and Secondary (A). Save — this restarts the metering service.
  3. With the ratio saved, tap Check CT wiring (CT-Verdrahtung prüfen) in the same settings. The button waits until a changed ratio is saved.
  4. The confirmation asks you to switch off inverters and other on-site generation and keep a normal load running. Do that, then press Start check (Prüfung starten).

The result is either Wiring looks correct (Verdrahtung korrekt), Wiring issues detected (Verdrahtungsprobleme erkannt) or Inconclusive (Nicht eindeutig), with a line per phase:

  • Direction (Richtung): OK, or Reversed (Verpolt) — the CT on that phase is the wrong way round.
  • Phase: OK, or Wrong phase? (Falsche Phase?) — that CT probably sits on a different phase than its voltage. A strongly inductive load can look similar, so treat it as a suspicion and look at the cabinet.
  • Inconclusive means too little current to judge: at least 0.5 A per phase is needed. Add load and run it again.

The test only reports. It does not correct anything in software — a reversed or swapped CT is fixed in the cabinet, then checked again.

With direct measurement (no CTs) the test is not offered; use the check by reading above.
